The Reading
Author Shannon Hale (who wrote Goose Girl, one of my favourite books) has a great post about why she no longer seeks out reviews after her books come out.

Thanks for sharing that link; I found her thoughts very informative. I agree with her–and I say that as a reviewer as well as a writer. Reviews aren’t aimed at writers, and I think a lot of writers put themselves through unnecessary pain and anguish over them. A reviewer’s words are still ultimately just one person’s opinion. When I review a book I don’t think I have some sort of special weight to my opinions–I’m just trying to include enough information that someone can make their own decision as to whether or not to buy a book. And as much as I enjoy it when I can make an author happy by lauding their work, that isn’t the purpose of a review.

Again, thanks for linking to that.
