What You Should Know Before Entering My Cartoon Caption Contests

This is intended to be a fun community challenge for writers. There are no prizes, but your name will be added to the credits (see winning entries as example).

By entering this contest you agree to allow the winning entry to be posted on Inkygirl under a Creative Commons license. I also promise that if I ever decide to include the cartoon in a compilation for sale, I’ll ask your permission first. For this reason, please do make sure I have your contact info (at least an e-mail address) or that your contact info is available on your website.

If I’m paid more than a few bucks for use of this cartoon, then I’ll split the revenue with you. The “few bucks” caveat is because I do sometimes have Google ads up on my sites but I’d rather not get into the hassle of figuring out how many cents I owe you — trust me, I don’t earn a lot that way. :-)

I lean toward captions that have to do with the craft or business of writing. If I don’t choose your caption, it doesn’t mean that yours wasn’t the best. It simply means that the winning caption appealed to me and my cartoon style more, for completely subjective reasons.

I also reserve the right to tweak the wording if I feel it would improve the overall cartoon.

Good luck!
