David Seah: multi-tasking and self-regulation
February 13th, 2007 · 2 Comments

I’m a fan of
David Seah’s blog. He doesn’t write specifically about writing, but I find his
posts about productivity inspiring and can almost always apply them to my freelance writing and illustrating.
His recent post about
self regulation offers useful advice about coping with multitasking and personal benchmarking. For example, here are some rules he has put in place for himself to maintain his sanity (”though I don’t like any of them”):* Say No.
* Be unavailable while you are working
* Take the work only when you have time to do it
* Work one one thing at a time until it’s done
* Accept that variability in production time is unavoidable at this stage
* Don’t take opportunities as they arise, no matter how tempting they are, until you finish what you’re doingI think I’m going to print this out and stick it up on my office wall.

So, where is that woman’s caffeine??
According to everything I see on that cartoon, she either needs to go for a run, or drink a stiff cuppa joe . . .
