Nicely put! (And ain’t that the truth!)

Dear Debbie,
I love the cartoon! However, in MY version the sign would say:

“PUBLISHERS WHO PAY PEANUTS ARE SQUIRRELEY.”

I just now looked up the word “squirreley” to make sure I was using it correctly. I was, INDEED, correct: “unpredictable, nervous, DEMENTED.” By the way, I am not proud. I am a freelance writer based in Europe and I will work for peanuts. My pitch is: “Reg Crowder covers the European Financial Markets with a North American perspective.” When negotiating a peanut-denominated contract, I would propose the following schedule, based upon a current price-to-the-farmer for peanuts of about 18 cents per pound (if they’re really lucky). Base hourly rate: 312.5 pounds of peanuts. Base daily rate (7 hours): 2,194 pounds of peanuts. Dear Debbie,
Where are my manners?

1. I thank you.
2. And my elephant thanks you.

All the best, eh?
