The iPhone built-in camera isn’t the greatest at taking close-up shots, so I decided to order the Griffin Clarifi case because it has a built-in lens for taking clearer detailed close-ups.
There’s a little sliding cover so you have the option of using the normal iPhone lens if you want. The main reason I wanted the Clarifi was for making text more readable.
Which meant that I could -search- for the text in my iPhone photos using Evernote. I am SO in love with Evernote right now, and am leaning heavily on it and Things to be better organized. Both have desktop AND iPhone apps which sync, plus Evernote has a Web sync as well.
I’ll have to do another post about Evernote soon, but one of the great things about Evernote is that it recognizes text in images. When I did a search for “savitzky”, for example, it immediately found the photo I had taken using my iPhone:
Instead of fumbling through a massive pile of business cards, I’m just going to take photos of them from now on. Hm…this has possibilities for other types of text-focused photos as well. Menus? Books? Veryvery cool…
I’ve also just downloaded the free Snappr.net app for the iPhone which will let me take photos of barcodes for comparison shopping.
I looooooooove my iPhone….
