Rands In Repose: Writers and Editors

Wistful

“Writing is a solitary act. Writers’ jobs are to sit in front of our computers late at night and struggle to tell a story to someone who is not there. This is a quiet, insular task, which temporarily removes us from the planet. That’s what the act of creation is; a silent belief that what you have to say is relevant when you’re mostly just throwing your ideas out there and praying.”

The quote above is from one of my favourite blogs, Rands In Repose. The author is a software engineer and his blog isn’t always about writing, but he writes well and succinctly. Now that my laptop has recovered (thanks to my technonerdboy husband, who installed this firmware update in my MacBook), I’ve been gradually catching up on blogs.

Anyway, I particularly enjoyed an entry called Writers and Editors, which explains why every writer needs an editor.
