Hmmm, some running themes seem to be read more, take a class, finish a book and get published more.

I have so many swimming around my head, but my main 2008 Freelance Writing Resolutions are to:

1) Monetize my sites more;

2) Make SEO content writing at least 50% of my income;

3) Finish the two ebooks I’m working on;

4) Start two minisites; and

5) Get one ebook on Amazon.com.

I have a list of about 25 things, but one of my resolutions was not to overwork myself this year.

Let’s check back next year everybody and see how we did.

Wow – I have many of the same resolutions:
1. Write more often (anything more than, uh, never is more often)
2. Learn Spanish
3. Take a photography class
4. Take ballroom dancing classes
5. Read 50 books
6. Attend my writing group meetings & meet people.

I’ve decided to keep it simple.
1. Complete my novel, story collection, and play.
2. Learn French.
3. Read more books.
4. Eat less chocolate. My waist line can’t take anymore pressure.

Here are a few of mine:

1. Increase my monthly writing income by 5x over the year (it’s a low starting number).

2. Build my name as a Christian fiction expert with online reviews and 200 newsletter subscribers.

3. Improve my craft by completing 4 books/courses on writing during the year and writing 500 words minimum of fiction a week.

4. Complete the rough draft of a novel.

5. Begin revising a novel.

To see at least three stories published in print markets.

To see at least three stories published in web markets.

Finish my NaNoWriMo novel and take the editing knife to it.

Eat more chocolate.

I only write part time, because I’ve still got a child home half a day (he has half day kindergarten). So I set a limited amount of goals for myself between now and next Sept when he goes to school full time.

I’ve cut and pasted them from my own blog:

1. Not to jump the gun. I still need to take it at a slow pace until next September. My youngest is still home half the day, and he deserves my attention.

2. Get published in one more print magazine. I hadn’t intended on going for print markets until I was doing this full time, but 2007 brought an unexpected, but welcome and exciting, column at Primal Parenting magazine. In addition to that column, I hope to get published in one other national print magazine this year.

3. Write 300 words a day on the shitty first draft of my novel. (Sorry for the potty language – it’s Anne Lamott’s term, but if you’ve read Bird by Bird, you’ll know it’s a very freeing term.)

4. Redo my office. It’s still the former nursery with children’s art on the walls, giraffes on the lamp, and a nursery green color on the trim. I want to make it functional and inspirational.

I’ve got a huge list of things I want to get done. Nothing big or scary really (like from the NaNoWriMo thing, Big Fun Scary), but here are some of them:
-learn Italian
-blog at least once a week
-write at least twice a week
-finish my 2007 NaNoWriMo

That’s just some of the stuff I want to get done in 2008.
