Will Write For Chocolate has been updated. Click image above to see a bigger version.
If you’re curious about NaNoWriMo, you can check the NaNoWriMo Web site. Basic goal: to write 50,000 words in November. I’m the official NaNoWriMo cartoonist again this year; during the month of November, you will find a new Nanowrimo-related cartoon from yours truly on the NaNoWriMo site every weekday.
Survey: Have you ever entered NaNoWrimo? Do you plan on entering this year?
I entered some years ago, and turned the novel I wrote into a decent manuscript that will hopefully find a publisher this year (fingers crossed).

I played along last year - and actually reached somewhere over 60k words. This year, though, I’m not participating. I’m running about two months, if not three, behind on absolutely everything…

I’d planned to try it this year, but my current WIP is going so well that I’m afraid participating would actually be detrimental to my writing health.
Unless finish the WIP by Oct 31, I don’t see NaNoWriMo happening for me this year.

I won in 2003 and was too busy with the kids in 2005, when I tried it last. But I’m not thrilled with the quality of what I wrote, so I’m not going to do it this year.

I love NaNoWriMo!!! I also love the comics you drew for it last year - I was teaching 6th grade, and I had my class do the Young Writers Program. I printed out your comics and put them on a posterboard in the hall - it was the highlight of the day, the new NaNoWriMo comic… (if they saw me print and post it while they were working on something, suddenly have the class needed to “go to the bathroom” so they could sneak a peek in the hall
)
(Oh, wait - I hope it’s OK that I displayed your comics… you name was on them, I’m pretty sure - we teachers are used to “borrowing” things, but I’m usually good about giving credit when it’s due…)

Hopefully I will actually win this year. I started in 2006, and for a chile it went well, but then there were some days wherein I just wrote one word.
This year I agree with your comic. I will live at starbuck on nothing but expresso beans and carmel machiatto’s and I will talk to noone till I reach my goal!!
LOL

I participated in (and won) NaNoWriMo last year. I’m definitely planning on doing it again this year. In fact, I’m setting a higher personal goal for myself this year: 80,000 words instead of 50,000.

I’ve heard of this before, but have a tremendous difficulty with the novel format.
Something in me tells me that I should do this. I need the challenge, something to stretch me.
I love the cartoons!
