Weekly Wordcount Check-in: 250, 500, 1000 wds/day

Ok, I had a total #fail when it came to writing during my vacation. I got frustrated at first but then just decided to let it go so I could actually enjoy the vacation. It was hard to explain the frustration to non-writers. It wasn't that I felt OBLIGATED to write...I WANTED to write. Not being able to write some days was like not drinking water. But now I'm super-motivated, and I figure that's only a good thing.

Do you need a wordcount challenge with some leeway?
Check out the challenges below:
250 wds/day | 500 wds/day | 1000 wds/day

So how did you all do with your daily wordcount challenges since the last check-in?

I did very little writing this week. It was slightly necessary and impossible.
But I did find out that I'm going to be published for the first time! Very excited. Don't worry, I won't let that distract me any more from writing.

Haha!

I know the feeling. What are you currently working on?

Thanks for the tips.

I can totally relate! We went on vacation a few weeks ago. I love my story. I wanted to work on it. But I also felt like I deserved time off, even if it was time off from something I loved.

Oh, that always happens on vacation. Which is why we rarely go for longer than a week. The crankiness of not being able to make art starts to cancel the happiness of time off out at that point.

I did my usual five days of writing last week. I hit 500 most of those days. One day I only wrote 179 but that was after a day of writing three blog posts in a row, and a new story of 2000 words. So that's alright, then.

I can't seem to get more than five days per week, so that's what I'm settling with right now.: Five days of 500 words a day.

Thanks to the fact that I had a few really good days I was able to pull my word count up to 11,019. I am having a slow start this week but I have faith in myself to pull my word count up to maybe 12,000 by the time Saturday comes. Have a great week and good luck everyone.

P.S. Debbie you deserve a break every once and a while. Besides you have to learn all the ins and outs of that IPad so you cann lead us when we all get our own :)

I only did about 2.5 K (instead of 5,000), but considering I feel like I've been running around non-stop screaming "AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!" it felt pretty accomplished. Things are off to a better start this week already.

Weekly Goal: 3,500 words
Words Written: 3,621 words
Target Goal: 143,500 words
Status: 11% complete as of April 11th

This was a really weird week for me. I was besieged with migraines and I'm surprised I got anything done. I've swallowed more medicine than I care to recount. But in spite of this, my stats were good. I upgraded my challenge and moved to 500 words a day. I expect that to change by summer, which is good. It shows I'm making progress.

Good luck in the week ahead!

I was doing really badly with 250 but for some reason, upping to 1000 made a difference. I was actually able to do it. Maybe the additional pressure is what did it. ;)

Meh. About the same as last week. This weekend had been hectic and I didn't get done what I wanted to.

Great week. Exceeded my goal for the week. Feeling really good about where the story is going.

Yikes! I have somehow missed checking in for two weeks! Okay, last week I had The Plague and was medicated - but I still wrote! With the exception of one day this last two weeks I've written every day, so I'm super excited and happy with that progress!

I'm starting the 500 word a day challenge tomorrow (which, because it's a little past 11.15 PM, begins in approx. 45 minutes). Lately, I've been so focused on character developments, exercises, editing, and blogging that I've really forgotten what it means to write.

I'm doing this because I miss actual sentences, actual writing, actual stories.

I'm not making a whole year commitment though -- that's too much for me to handle. Let's say 6 months and sees what happens. And so the challenge begins!

Good to stay motivated. I just began my next piece. I'm still in the plotting phase, pre-concept writing test scenes, but when I get cracking, I may look at that 1kw badge. My actual writing goals, though, when I'm banging out a long piece, is 1,500-2,500 wpd.

Does blogging count?

My entry today was over 1,000 words.
